Foam flies for sale bass panfish trout.

Got a great hopper for sale.  You can drift it or chug it.  I designed the face so that it causes a lot of drag when pulled.  Great for bluegills, smallmouth and you know it's gonna be killer for trout when it's hopper time.  Email me or visit this link to buy it.  You can by singles or however many through my email . . . or three at ebay. I always send an extra fly or two.

And to think I almost sold that Tom Nixon Fly Fishing and Fly Tying for Bass and Panfish

Up until about 5 years or so ago, I was tying some nymphs from Tom Nixon's Fly Fishing and Fly Tying for Bass and Panfish.  Well, thinking I was done with this book and putting fly recipes and what-not into my mental files, I was thinking of passing the book on.

Well, I need it.   I forgot how to tie the Jeremiah Nymph One pattern.  I had changed it up a bit but can't remember how.  Although, I will be tying it in yellow.

Most importantly of all - the reason why I need this book - is that I was going to use it to help promote warm water fly fishing.  Initially, I was doing just that thing.  And if you notice, there are several Tom Nixon fly patterns spattered throughout the blog.  I may have posted the Montana Nymph and named it the Colorado Nymph but it is also a killer.  I'm not sure if it's a Tom Nixon original but it's close to the Bitch Creek Nymph.

Perhaps this is wrong of me but I am going to post a picture of this pattern.  A special pic.  The picture in the book is a bit grainy and I've tried my phone and the ipad and this is the best photo I can take.  The Jeremiah Nymph One is the smallest fly in the middle on the bottom row.  I'll tie one up soon and post it.

Jeremiah Nymph One

Body - Back half, stripped quill from eye of peacock feather. Front half back yarn. (chenille) Tie on a bunch of gray mallard side feather fibers at the end of the quill body and when the front part of the body and the hackle are complete, tie them off at the eye to form a gray thorax.
Hackle - Black wound palmer on front half only.
Head - Black
Hook - 10, 12, 14, 4XL, T.D.E.

I would like to thank Mark Delaney and the others from the Warmwater Group that is no longer on Yahoo because I think Yahoo Groups may be gone.  The group was moved to an independant site.  Mark knew Tom Nixon and was in the same fly fishing club at Lake Charles.  He began the first Memorial Tom Nixon fly swap which I participated in as well as the second and possibly third memorial swaps.  I was into warm water fly fishing but it was Mark Delaney and a few others in that group that introduced me to Tom Nixon.  His book is awesome because it is very in-depth and simple to follow.  Don't get me wrong, Whitlock and some other folks have helped to progress warm water fly fishing but Tom Nixon is one of the earlier pioneers - especially utilizing a book and originating the Calcasieu Pigboat, .56%er and others.

Here are a few links to Tom Nixon Memorial Fly Swaps.

Looking at the last swap, I tied the California Coachman which is a great fly for bluegills!!!  I think Mark Delaney has hosted several other Tom Nixon fly swaps on other forums.  A third edition came out and was promoted by Tom but not really carried by a big publisher - I think.  The third edition is for sale on ebay by his Tom jr.  Years ago, after finding this book at the library, I bought the 2nd edition on ebay.  I think it's an amazing book.

Bass and panfish foam fly pattern.

I tied these sinking damsel flies for bluegills but may drift these for smallmouth.  I was thinking of using them on the local pond.

Just another idea for a warm water pattern. It's pretty simple to tie, if you have the right foam. I tied these a few weeks ago, so I can't give pics with tying directions.

Foam smallmouth and bass fly pattern.

Gurglers for sale!  I sold the bejeezus out of flies in 2007 but for some reason, it's a bit slow.  Maybe I'm starting too soon (it's still winter . . . right??), lol - warm snap and all.

Foam smallmouth and bluegill fly pattern for sale - ebay.

I have another set of Los Alamos Ants for sale on ebay.  Pretty productive pattern.  You can drift it or pop it.  I caught several smallmouth and a bunch of bluegills on this pattern last year and the year before.  It's new to me.  I didn't originate the pattern but have been surprised at it's effectiveness.  Especially during the fall.

Tom Nixon Quiz winners.

Crumbs!!  I forgot to mail those flies out to you guys that won the quiz.  Bill, I did get your flies and they look awesome.  Can't wait to use them.  Oddly enough, the yellow gnat looks almost just like a fly someone sent me about 7 years ago.  I lost it year before last but it was VERY productive.

I've got to make an ebay run to the Post Office and I should have everyones stuff sent out.  I am still looking for a box with certain proportions to send out a phone I sold.

I did sell some flies.  Those blue and black hoppers that I caught some smallies on last year.

Again, sorry to forget you guys.

Foam bass and panfish fly pattern. Hula Frog.

This isn't my original fly pattern. I'm tying this in hopes of catching some largemouth bass this spring. Everyone knows to cast this around stumps, logs and lily pads. If gas prices do become too high, I'm gonna have to hit local ponds more often. I love tying with foam and am trying new patterns. This is my fourth attempt at this fly today.

Just wondering who really likes fly fishing for bass and panfish.

I get a lot of traffic on this blog. The most important function of this blog is to promote warm water fly fishing.

So, to possibly give someone a little something to learn, I am going to give some flies away. But, you've got to answer a few questions correctly.

I am only going to send a few flies to the first 3 people who do not follow my blog and can answer these questions.

1. Who wrote Fly Fishing and Fly Tying for Bass and Panfish . . . the author is from Louisiana.

2. Who created the .56er?

3. What does Calcasieu Pigboat mean? The literal meaning.

Send responses to rzrbk804@yahoo.com

Due to high costs, I won't mail internationally unless you pay difference.

I am only sending 3 flies and they are of my choice. You may be surprised or let down but it's all in the name of fun.
